Community Projects

Giving back to the community is a key principal of Thornybush Lodge, and so we have joined with the Hlokomela range of volunteer initiatives to assist the local community with the Utah Community Project. Funded purely by donations from Thornybush Lodge, Nedbank, MASDT and visitors of Thornybush Lodge, 12 women from the Utah Village are able to give their time to develop and maintain an entirely organic vegetable garden.

The aim of this project is to feed the families of these women, guests at Sabi Sand Lodges , as well as children attending the Manyeleti School. The school receives a weekly food box that ensures the sustained nourishment for the children in their learning environment. All funds raised by selling the home-grown produce to the lodges ensure the continuation of the garden and its benefits for the community. Student learning and volunteer involvement may take place at the garden and donations from guests and sponsors are very welcome!
